Week 18

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far along? 18 weeks

Size of the Baby? Mango

Maternity Clothes? Oh yes

Gender? pink

Movement? Not feeling anything major yet and rarely feeling the flutters... i was getting worried but the more i read the more i realize i shouldn't worry yet. some people don't feel anything at all until as far as 26 weeks and regular movement isn't supposed to be kept track of until week 28-29

Sleep? It feels SO great not to be dependent on sleep meds anymore. for the past 3 years i've taken ambient and then at the beginning of pregnancy i switched to unisom. When i stopped having morning sickness I took a scary risk and nixed the sleep meds all together one night. and have been smooth sailing ever since. i usually have no problem FALLING asleep but wake up pretty frequently throughout the night trying to get comfortable. :)

Cravings? those seasonal cookies from bi-lo with the icing on top. i ate a whole thing of orange fall ones this week. sheesh

Symptoms? this week I've been getting these really weird twinges of pain in my lower back and front abdomen. I'm pretty sure they are round ligament pain. YOWZA does it hurt. takes my breath away for a few seconds and makes me feel like I'm going to throw up. didn't have any headaches this week. tailbone hurts if I sit down after I've been on my feet all day (i.e.- cheer competitions and football games)

What I miss? not getting out of breath so easily. good grief! i get SO winded i feel like a smoker trying to run a marathon after going up my stairs.

Milestones? no big ones this week

Weight Gain? 3 lbs people!!

What I’m nervous about? the dogs adjusting to baby girl

What I’m excited about? next Wednesday we go for the anatomy scan at the doctor. where we get to check out her organs, brain, heart, fingers, possibly six little toes, etc etc :)

Baby Center Update for Week 18:
Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

How Far along? 17 weeks

Size of the Baby? Onion, Sweet Potato

Maternity Clothes? Yep

Gender? still a GIRL

Movement? Still feeling little tickles every now and then but nothing big yet

Sleep? Wake up a lot but go right back to sleep

Cravings? no real strong urges this week.

Symptoms? my backkkkkk my aching backkkk

What I miss? not missing anything too much right now

Milestones? finding out it's a little girl!!!

Weight Gain? up to 1.5 lbs!

What I’m nervous about? labor.

What I’m excited about? Everything except labor and after birth.

Baby Center Update for Week 17:
Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

Tomorrow I will post a few pics from today's ultrasound appt :)

16 Week Update!! :)

Yall! How did I forget to do a 15 week update?? Oh yeah, that's right, because it was the night before we found out we're having a precious baby GIRLLLL and i was too excited to write :)

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far along? 16 weeks

Size of the Baby? One thing says Avocado, the other says size of my open palm

Maternity Clothes? Oh yeah. Bought two more shirts at Target today. And pretty much only wearing maternity jeans or dresses. SO much more comfortable!

Gender? little girl :)

Movement? Saturday on the way to Clemson I sneezed twice.. like big, obnoxious sneezes. and for about a minute or so after I felt a little flutter-like, tickling feeling. Then again about an hour later at the tailgate, but i havent felt anything since then. Naturally, I've been getting out the doppler and listening to her heart beat almost every night bc im like "Why did I feel you before and now i cant feel you??" But, I realize im crazy bc most of the books are still saying "Within the next few weeks you should start feeling something" SO, it's still early, yet.

Sleep? Definitely waking up a lot through out the night.

Cravings? Taco Bell. Apples. Salad.

Symptoms? Headaches. Tailbone still hurts occasionally. Lower back aches are getting pretty sick nasty. Ouch!

What I miss? Cold beer.

Milestones? finding out it's a little girl!!!

Weight Gain? woot woot!! we're movin on up!! .5 lbs!!!!

What I’m nervous about? Afterbirth. Yuck.

What I’m excited about? Seeing Matt with sweet little, Mary Tyler :)

Baby Center Update for Week 16:
Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

IT'S A GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been researching and watching youtube videos of 15 wk gender ultrasounds all week just so I could go in there knowing what I was looking for! Sure enough, right when she showed the leg and bottom area... there were those three little lines youre supposed to look for! Nothing between her legs whatsoever. I said "it's a girl!!" and the tech said "Yep!!" It was such a fun time !

Here is the link to the video. I know you prob dont wanna spend the whole 12 minutes watching it but its really sweet, she kicks around and stretches out at the end. Around the 5:00-5:30 minute mark we tried to count her toes but it still is a little too early to tell if she's got six!! We should be able to tell at the 4D ultrasound when I'm around 28 weeks.

And here are some pictures of our tiny little tinkerbell!!

chillaxin'

covering her ears, haha

and finally, proving there's nothing between those skinny little legs :)

Marion Tyler Bolt *aka: Mary Tyler* will be making her debut in February!!!! We are so excited!

OH BOY??

so.. from the day i found out i was pregnant up until about 2 weeks ago, I would have told you, for sure, that we're going to have a little girl. i just had that feeling .. its definitely a girl. about two weeks ago i started second guessing myself... maybe it is a boy? some of the old wives tales (which had been all pointing to pink early on) were starting to point to blue now. matt had a dream last week it was born a girl and then was a boy later on, haha.

last night, i literally had about 10 different dreams that baby bolt is going to be a boy!!! im not saying my dreams are always accurate, but the way i even knew to take a pregnancy test on the morning of June 18th was because i'd had the same type of night i had last night, dreaming about 10 different times that i was pregnant.

now i just CANT WAIT to find out what baby is on Wednesday!!! I have been swaying this whole time. Most of my college life I always said I wanted boys, and boys only. Then once I got married i said, maybe three boys and a girl last. (because once i got married i realized how much girls stayed with their family and boys kind of leave theirs... i dont want all my boys leaving me!! i have to have one girl to go through weddings and babies with!!) Then when I found out I was pregnant, I really couldn't picture it being a boy, not because I didn't want one, but just had an instinct that it was a girl.

My fears of having a girl: Ummmmm what if I have a girl that's just like me... and she fights with me and makes my life a living hell from age 14-18?? I don't like arguing!!! I don't want a catty brat.

Pro of having a girl: I loved the way my brother and I grew up. I was 3 years older and like a little mommy to him. We are closer than most siblings I know, and if it's a girl, I'm naming her after my brother :) Also, I really want Matt to have a daddy's girl, because I have such a special relationship with my daddy!

My fears of having a boy: Exact opposite of my girl "pro".... Matt was first...and his sister came three years later, and he terrorized her! Poor Kelleigh! However, they are as close as can be now, so I know it'll work out in the long run.

Pro of having a boy: it's all i've ever really imagined myself having. I NEED ME a little Mama's Boy! I told Matt if this is a girl...and the next ones a girl....and the next ones a girl... I am willing to have four children to get me a little mamas boy!!!! But good lord can you imagine if the fourth was a girl, too??? sheesh.

Bottom line: I am SO EXCITED to find out on Wednesday what we're having...and EITHER WAY I am going to be ecstatic!!! 2 more wake up's and we'll knowwww!!!!

-B

**DISCLAIMER: I just reread this post and it makes it sound like we for sure want four kids... no way... thinking three max. Pre-married life I thought four was ideal. Then I started babysitting for just two that were close in age and I changed my mind... Two sounds GREAT... maybe three if we dont have one of each! :) **
