nursery progress... sort of.

Mary Tyler's nursery is coming along, slowly but surely.

Things we've accomplished: painting the walls, buying a crib, dresser, and glider, cleaning out the closet, making a few other small purchases like a lamp, a wrought iron thing (that may or may not get returned), a crib sheet, a baby elephant stuffed animal, etc., taped off the area where the rug will go, purchased the charcoal velvet curtain panels for cindy to make into bubble shades, hung a little sign on the door that may or may not stay there.

Things we have left to do: get crib bedding and glider pad made and ottoman reupholstered, get a ceiling fan, re-cover the lamp shade, paint the trim and closet doors to match the furniture, may or may not put bead board and crown molding on the ceiling, make some cool ceiling art/mobile type thing over her crib using homemade paper lateens and kissing balls, paint the wrought iron thing if we keep it, have cindy sew the curtains, get artwork, have a monogram made for the wall above the dresser, purchase the rug we've already picked out, get little accessories, replace the outlet covers etc.

here's where we're at right now:

SO... we have a lot left to do, but there IS progress being made :) these pictures make the blue look a lot BLUER than it really is.. oh well. Can't wait to finish it up!!

22 WEEKS

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far along? 22 weeks 2 days

Size of the Baby? a papaya ... a spaghetti squash

Maternity Clothes? yes

Gender? It's a girl

Movement? We finally got the dance party we've been waiting for!! Monday night we were laying in bed talking at 3 am and I felt her kick! I was like ooh she kicked. Then she did it AGAIN. It was the first time i've felt her kick twice in a row (on the inside). I made Matt feel my tummy and he looked at me like "I'm not going to feel anything" bc so many times i've made him try, and nothing has happened. Then right when he was losing hope she did all sorts of jiu -jitsu. She punched and kicked and was rumbling all over. Matt's eyes got as big as saucers as a huge smile came across his face. He's like "oh my gosh! turn on the light lets see if we can see her!" Sure enough, we turned on the light and my belly was dancing all over the place. Looks like baby girl is a night owl just like mommy and daddy. Then again, last night, I felt her again. same time of night. :) such a cool feeling!

Sleep? Still taking forever to get to sleep, then once I get to sleep I wake up a million times rolling over from side to side. Baby is feeling so much heavier now, esp when i roll over. But her "playing" with me at night, moving around and such, has made the insomnia much more tolerable, just because I'm so excited about feeling her. I'm sure in a few weeks I'll be hoping she quits so I can get to sleep :)

Cravings? Pancakes. Southern Food - Nanny's green beans.

Symptoms? still feel awesome!!! a back ache here and there.

What I miss? Not a thing

Milestones? Matt and I feeling and SEEING her kicking around. Oh! and we registered!!!!! It was so much fun!! Obviously, we do not expect to get even half of everything we registered for, but we will buy the things we really need that are left. Check it out HERE :) Moms, let me know if there's anything that isn't on there that you think should be!!

Weight Gain? 8 lbs

What I’m nervous about? back to breastfeeding this week.

What I’m excited about? I just can't wait for her to get here!!! But also, next wednesday we have another ultrasound appointment and hopefully will be able to get a better glimpse at her little toesies :)

Baby Center Update for Week 22:
At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

21 Week Update

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far along? 21 weeks 1 day

Size of the Baby? a banana or a carrot (for length) but the best one I've heard for size and weight is a bottle of root beer. haha

Maternity Clothes? yep

Gender? Pink

Movement? Saturday during the STRESSFUL Clemson game I thought I was feeling her squirm around, I lifted up my shirt and right when I put my hand on there, I saw and felt her kick out!! I made matt put his hand on it for a solid 10 minutes but she didn't give us another one. Since then I haven't felt a solid kick like that, but I did feel what seemed like she rolled all the way over, last night. One side of my belly was really hard and then I felt her do a flip and the other side was hard. It was really cool! I still want her to move more though!

Sleep? Still on the decline. The past three nights I've not fallen asleep until after 4 am. Thank goodness I don't have to be up and and work in the mornings. I would be a zombie. Trying to get as much sleep as I can before she gets here :)

Cravings? Still Coke, and Dr. Pepper. and Golden Delicious Apples.

Symptoms? still feel awesome!!!

What I miss? We went to the Mountains for our anniversary this weekend with my brother and Janey. They were all drinking Shock Top Pumpkin Ale. Smelled AMAZING. Really wanted one,

Milestones? Feeling her kick :)

Weight Gain? Yesterday morning it was 7 lbs this morning 6 lbs. I'm still proud of myself though, bc everything I read says I could have gained anywhere from 9 to 16 lbs by now. I have a feeling it'll catch up with me :)

What I’m nervous about? nothing. I feel a great peace this week.

What I’m excited about? Her arrival!!! I got to go meet sweet baby Yates Dover yesterday. At only 3 days old, he's the smallest thing to ever capture my heart. Suzy had a wonderfully easy labor and delivery story to share with me and helped calm my nerves on some things. Holding that tiny angel made me SOOOO anxious and excited for February to get here!!! I cannot wait!

Also, Matt and I are going to register tonight at Buy Buy Baby!! :)

Baby Center Update for Week 21:
Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long —the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.

Halfway There!! 20 weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far along? 20 weeks 3 days

Size of the Baby? a small cantaloupe, whoa!

Maternity Clothes? yes.. thank goodness the fall weather is here (for the most part)

Gender? Pink

Movement? Still not what I've been hoping for :( I go back and read all my pregnant and mommy friends blogs and they were/are all feeling movement at 20 weeks! Every once in a while I feel a little flutter, or one time I thought I felt her roll over. But she hasn't KICKED me yet. I found out my placenta is in the front, so hopefully her little bones will get stronger this week so i can feel her!

Sleep? Yikes, getting worse. Last night I tossed and turned until 4 am. I can only imagine its going to get a lot worse. Sheesh.

Cravings? Coke!!! I haven't drank caffeine in 2 years... but last week started just feigning for a cocacola! I can only drink a kids size or a little small one or else my heart starts racing like no other! Also, I'm still hungry all the time... but even when I'm starving I still can't finish my whole dinner. I guess because my stomach is starting to get squished.

Symptoms? nothing too bad this week

What I miss? sleep

Milestones? HALFWAY TO BABY!!! When we first found out we were expecting, 20 weeks seemed SO FAR AWAY! and now it's here. Hope the 2nd half flies by even faster, I can't wait to meet my sweet baby girl.

Weight Gain? still holding out at 5 lbs. - whoop whoop!

What I’m nervous about? not feeling too nervous right now :)

What I’m excited about? Seeing what she looks like!

Baby Center Update for Week 20:
Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)

He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Week 19

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far along? 19 weeks 3 days

Size of the Baby? she's still a mango.. haha

Maternity Clothes? Yeah.. actually am headed out to shop for a few more tops tomorrow and maybe a pair of skinnies :)

Gender? she's still a girl!

Movement? I drank some hot chocolate at the football game last friday night and she was definitely "tickling" me! just little weird flutters. but nothing substantial enough still, to say "Oh wow! That was definitely her!"

Sleep? Still not had a good nights sleep for waking up every 30 min to reposition myself. i'm not complaining though. being off the sleep meds is wonderful

Cravings? no cravings but hungry ALL. THE. TIME.

Symptoms? when i get tired, I'm not just tired. my whole body hurts and I'm exhausted. i can barely stay awake through my tv shows. my back hurts pretty bad sometimes.

What I miss? not missing anything this week.

Milestones? READ POST BELOW! :) 90% sure Mary Tyler has SIX LITTLE TOES on her right foot ... and i almost passed out during her anatomy scan. She weighs 11 ounces right now and 7 inches long from her head to her bottom. She's breech... her head is right at my belly button and her feet press on my bladder... which is why I have to go ALL THE TIME. The past two ultrasounds we've had we clearly see her drinking, no, GULPING amniotic fluid. Maybe she's a thirsty little baby and will be a pro at breastfeeding :)

Weight Gain? 5 lbs .. eeeek

What I’m nervous about? passing out. any "close call" that i have leads to more close calls over the next couple of weeks.

What I’m excited about? working on her nursery!! it's so cool to see it coming along

Baby Center Update for Week 19:
Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

Anatomy Scan ....

We had our Anatomy Scan today at 19 weeks. Baby girl was very cooperative and restless. Right when she appeared on the screen she was folded in half.. with her feet right up next to her head. We told the tech we were hoping to be able to count her toes! Sure enough she showed us her little tootsies... in unison with the tech, we counted out loud what we saw on the screen... "1, 2, 3, 4, 5... 6!!!!!! oh my gosh i see 6!" and just as fast as possible she kicked her feet out and then crossed them at the ankles.. Blending the picture. We couldn't tell how many on each foot. We tried the rest of the time but could not get a clear view again. Shoot!! All 3 of us are 90% sure she has six little toes on her right foot! Just like her Cici :) and her Daddy (but his are on his left foot). Here's the picture of her feet crossed... how many do you see?? We can't tell if her big toe is on the left foot or right?? But in this picture I only see five. Oh well. The tech LOVED us and was so happy to do a "baby" scan today (she'd been doing ovaries all morning) she ended up writing on my file that we needed to do a re-scan at the 24 week appt to get a better picture of the heart... but really she wants to see the toes again... and us :) love her.

Anway, that wasn't the only excitement of the visit. About 10 minutes later, she was showing us things like the heart, diaphragm, kidneys, etc... and all the sudden it hit me. "Uh oh... I don't feel so good." It seems every time I feel like i'm going to pass out... as soon as I say it out loud, I go downhill, FAST! As soon as I said it my vision started to go. I was already laying down but she had me roll over on my side. It sounded like I was hearing everyone under water for a few minutes then I started coming around. They gave m
e some ginger ale and ice packs on my head and neck and Matt tried to make the situation lighter by taking off his shoe and showing HIS 6th toe. The tech and nurse loved it. I have no idea why that happened today. Usually I pass out when I'm really nervous or get blood taken. I was excited and laughing watching the u/s the whole time, so it truly came out of no where. The nurse said it could be that my blood flow was already suppressed from laying on my back and that on top of my vasovagal syncope (passing out condition) made me woozy. Oh

well, hope it doesn't happen again.

We go back on November 2nd, and get to have another quick scan to see her twinkle toes :)

In other news, the nursery is painted and Matt put the crib together tonight!! We still need to paint the window trim, and the closet doors. They were a cream color before and looked great in the room, but now they look the color of smokers teeth next to the white crib. Also, we're going to install hardwood floors after the holidays :) Can't wait to see what it'll look like when it's finished!! Thanks SO MUCH to my friends who came and helped me paint while matt was in san fran last week!! And to my Hubby who finished it all.. and put the crib together!

I'll do a 19 week update tomorrow!

Here are some pictures from today:

At 17 weeks gender appt we saw her drinking...with a big open mouth, and again
today she was doing the same thing, this is a kind of creepy pic (i think) because it look's like her jaw is detached from her head... but here she is with her mouth open!

A little profile shot... looks like she's scratching her little shoulder! haha, look at that elbow poking out.

The lady said "uh oh, looks like a soccer foot"
